Duplicate folders tab

Overview

Duplicate Folders are grouped together after a scan, and are a useful tool for quickly organizing and marking your duplicate files for removal.

File markings made in the main duplicate file list are reflected here, and vice-versa.

Note: The folder groups shown are only duplicates according to your scan criteria and filters. For instance, if you only scanned for jpg files, and had two folders with the same jpg files in, they would be shown in this list. However, there may also be different files in these folders (e.g .txt), outside of the scan criteria.  This is useful if you want to find duplicate folders while ignoring some files (eg baks, thumbs.db, etc).

Duplicate folders

The duplicate folders are arranged into groups, showing the root duplicate folders which match in each group.  You can expand the folders to view the folder tree.  The groups are listed by largest size first.  Any folder shown in grey means that that folder is contained within a larger folder group that is duplicated elsewhere.

Clicking on a checkbox next to a folder will mark that folder and all subfolders.  To only mark the folder without marking the subfolders, uncheck the 'Automatically mark subfolders on checkbox click' setting above the list.  Marking folders here will also mark the corresponding files in the Duplicate files tab.

Key:
Folder and subfolders are not marked
Folder and subfolders are marked
Folder and/or subfolders are partially marked or empty*

*Empty folders may actually not be empty but contain files outside the scope of the scan.

Files list

The list to the right of the tab contains the files within the currently selected folder.
Files shown in grey are outside the scope of the scan criteria, and will not be marked for deletion.

Selection Assistant

This tab contains a simplified Selection assistant to help with marking folders.  It works in a similar way to the Selection assistant on the duplicate files tab.
